Mental Health Counseling
What is mental health counseling? Perhaps we should begin by looking at what it is not. Contrary to some beliefs, this type of counseling does NOT imply that the recipient is mentally ill.
Mental health counseling is a generic term used to describe counseling for anything which causes distress at a psychological level, be it very mild, or extremely severe.
Mental health counseling can include all forms of therapy such as:
- Gestalt therapy
- Transactional analysis
- Clinical psychology
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Behavioral therapy
- Rational Emotive Behavioral therapy (REBT)
